Founded in 1960 by
Camelback Mountain Lions Club, Lions Vision Center is backed with 45
years of EYE Care experience.
Lions Vision Center
provides top-notch quality eye care regardless of opportunity and
income. along with great Lions support - a combination that can't be
beat!
Through our
commitment, experience, and expertise Lions Vision Center has
established a business relationship with our customers that will
last a lifetime!
That was the
belief of the Camelback Mountain Lions Club when it helped found the
Lions Vision Center. Largely through the foresight of club member
Dr. Troy Miller, O.D., the concept of the Vision Center became
reality some four decades ago. The objective then, as it is now, was
to help those in need, particularly the area's undeserved youth,
enjoy improved vision through properly prescribe eyewear, regardless
of ability to pay.
Today, the
Center accommodates an average of 400 patients per month, providing
examinations for a wide range of vision deficiencies and dispensing
quality corrective eyewear. The center does not provide used or
discarded eyeglasses. Patients receive brand new lenses, precision
ground to meet their optometric prescriptions and set in the
patient's choice of a wide selection of up to date
frames.
The Lions
Vision Center is a non-profit corporation, which works with most
Lions Clubs in the metropolitan Phoenix area. The Clubs work
closely with school nurses who, after administering visual acuity
test, identify students who may be experiencing vision difficulties.
These nurses also help ascertain the student's family financial
situation. Where an inability to pay for vision services would
otherwise prohibit the student's from receiving corrective
treatment, the refers the case to the Sight Chairmen of the Lions
Club which sponsors that school, who then puts the student and
his/her family in touch with the Vision
Center.
In
addition to helping the under served students see things more
clearly, the Lions Vision Center also aids the elderly and
other members of the community who have no other means of acquiring
properly prescribed and fitted eyewear. Although the Lions Vision Center
exists primarily to service the sight services programs of the area
Lions Clubs, it also has contracts with AHCCCS health plans and
works on a regular basis with the Salvation Army, the Red Cross,
St.Vincent de Paul Society, Kiwanis Clubs
and approximately 30 other service
organizations.
Limited
means should not be a deterrent to improved vision,
especially our youth. For More
